Dr Shilpi Sharma holds a doctorate in Psychology, with a research focus in Autism and is also a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Dr Sharma has over a decade long teaching experience in universities and holds associate professor and research and innovation board member roles for two world-renowned institutions.
Dr Sharma published a peer-reviewed research article on diagnostic confusion between Asperger Syndrome and high-functioning autism, which contributed towards the DSM-V revisions in the diagnostic criteria of autism. Additionally, she is the author of more than 20 research articles and book chapters. She is also a trained psychometric assessor with an entry in the RQTU register of the British Psychological Society.
Dr Sharma has worked in NHS trusts over the last 5 years, diagnosing Autism and ADHD and leading several neurodevelopmental services throughout the United Kingdom. Dr Sharma is also a trained Cognitive Behaviour therapist with a special interest in treating anxiety in adolescents and adults with autism.
With over five years of working as a neurodiversity assessment practitioner, her journey from an academician to a clinician has been fueled by a commitment to helping young children with special needs. Core competencies in developmental psychology, psychometrics and research skills underpins her mission to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. The transition from an academician to a clinician reflects a commitment to integrating diverse perspectives and enhancing support.
