Dr Lamia Ali is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has expertise in Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, OCD, Tics/Tourette’s Syndrome, Eating Disorders, ADHD and Autism. Her most recent NHS CAMHS consultant role was with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust in the CAMHS team. Lamia was previously a CAMHS consultant in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Service in Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Lamia completed her MRCPsych with the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015, and went on to sub-specialise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the London Deanery (St Mary’s Training Scheme). During this time, she trained at Collingham Child and Family Centre, an in-patient unit providing mental and emotional health services to children under the age of 13.
Lamia recognises the importance of taking a multidisciplinary approach when working with young people and their families in order to establish a holistic treatment plan, considering appropriate evidence-based approaches – psychological, psychoeducation, parenting strategies and medication where necessary. Lamia takes pride in ensuring that young people and their families feel listened to and understood. As a parent watching your child struggle socially, academically or emotionally is heart-breaking.
