Funmilayo Ajala (Layo)

Funmilayo Ajala (known as “Layo”) is a qualified Mental Health Nurse with more than 10 years experience, specialising in neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly autism and ADHD.

Funmilayo is deeply passionate about making the assessment process as comfortable as possible, ensuring that individuals can express their needs clearly for the best possible outcomes. Funmilayo has extensive experience working with clients of all ages. Over the years, she has developed a specialist interest in working with individuals with autism, ADHD, and their families, with a particular focus on how these conditions present across ethnic minority cultures.

Funmilayo works at a diagnostic level and has been actively involved in diagnostics for over five years, being trained in ADI-R, ADOS, and ADHD assessments. She enjoys the diversity of working with both adults and children and takes a person-centered approach to neurodevelopmental assessments, ensuring that key aspects such as masking are thoroughly explored. 

In addition, Funmilayo has a diverse background in mental health therapeutic services, including psychiatric intensive care and rehabilitation units. She has also contributed to clinical research, working on the development of therapeutic medications. Funmilayo is described by her peers as knowledgeable and hard working with an authentic passion for supporting families, and her colleagues. She is known for her approachable, friendly and smiling nature.
